Story: The film is about two fine arts students, both driven by individual ambitions, who decide to live together. The film traces the course of their relationship and their progression as artists.

Artist oozes with deft touches. It's essentially the tale of an artist. Shyamaprasad makes it intensely human, bringing together love, ambition and conflicts. The film traces the life of two fine-arts students, Michael and Gayatri who decide to shelve college time and start a life together.

What binds them is a common hope of 'spending some quality time together' as Michael, brilliantly played by Fahadh puts it. The balance is soon rattled as the question of survival haunts them. Differences arise, doubts surface and tensions soar.

Artist is immensely backed by two actors Fahadh and Ann Augustine. Fahadh exercises his original vitality while expressing the ambitions of an aspiring, a highly confident artist. As a blind man stumbling in a crammed room or an artist fuming over his frustrations, he discovers balance between dismay and delirium.

His angst is manifested in a cold smirk which appears at the playful twirl of his lips. He furrows his brows in constant mistrust even while trying miserably to conceal his feelings of insecurity. His face easefully straddles anger, ambition and agony and the result is a character which Fahad is going to treasure forever.

The real revelation is Ann Augustine who plays the young student suddenly forced to run a house on her own, bearing with the volatile mood swings of her partner. She does it really well, even doing away with makeup.

The narrative has a fluidity even while bordering on complexities of trust, betrayal and fidelity. In the process, it unfurls the facets of an artist, as the frames closely capture a man in the process of his creation, constantly conceiving images, trying and failing, cursing and sometimes breaking down like a child. Artist is a well-assembled film, beautifully crafted and portrayed by a stunning cast.
