Desai is a celebrated filmmaker, while Atharva is an aspiring writer. When their paths cross, Atharva asks Desai to allow him to be a part of his team. Desai, on the other hand, uses Atharva as a pawn to develop a story based on his experiences. What happens when things go out of their hands?
Janardhan N's BB5 tries to fall in the noir space. The film is a thriller based in the cinema industry and tries to tackle an issue that is usually hushed up even though it is an open secret. While the script is clever and has some good moments, the treatment seems amateur at times and one wishes it had a better budget to suit the scope it offers.
The film begins on a dark, suspense-filled note and then moves on to narrate the tale of Desai and Atharva in a non-linear fashion. A police investigation leads to the viewers knowing what happened between the duo. This tale has some very interesting moments, with the performances of Poornachandra Mysore and Rajesh Nataranga standing out. Radhika Chetan has an interesting character too, which she does justice to.
The film might not boast sound production values, but the sincere attempt and the screenplay ensures the viewers are hooked, especially in the second half. If you're up to check out an interesting script, BB5 might just be the movie outing you want to choose.
