Dwaraka Story : Erra Seenu, (Vijay Devarakonda) a theif is mistaken for a god-sent due to a series of coincidences thus turning into Krishnananda Swami. Seenu plays along out of the greed for the money that flows in as dakshina. Meanwhile, Vasudha (Pooja Jhaveri) a girl he chances upon during his thieving days returns to worship him and he decides to stay back for her. How Seenu turns a new leaf from his conniving ways, becomes a do-gooder and wins his love, forms the rest of the story.

Dwaraka Movie review : First things first, this movie wasn’t for Vijay Devarakonda. With all the commercial elements in place – slapstick comedy and dancing around bushes, Vijay seemed like a misfit. But again, that could be because of the image he already garnered. In terms of performance he delivered. For Vijay, this film only serves as a testimony to his dancing skills for future prospects.

As far as narration is concerned, Seenu turns from a thief to a godman pretty early into the film. But just as you think ‘Oh the story is progressing quickly,’ it slips into the rut of romance, unnecessary comedy until the interval, with just a few scenes featuring the bad guy Prabhakar that seems to keep it going.

Seenu’s character goes from the careless thug to a lover boy in no time. His priorities go from money to love quite suddenly and the reason isn’t clear. He feels love for a girl who he has never spoken to and decides to give up money, his only motivation to live all these years. Sounds crazy. But love is crazy, isn’t it? Despite this drastic change in the character’s attitude, there is absolutely no explanation or background to it. Meanwhile Vasudha (Pooja Jhaveri) falls for him because he accepts publicly that he isn’t a godman but a thief. Somehow for once in Tollywood, the reason why the heroine falls for the guy is more reasonable than the hero’s.

The second half of the film has more pace to it than the first. Murali Sharma who plays the whistle blower against fake godmen, is strangely passionate about the cause. He snubs them with a lot of pomp and show and a ready speech preaching the evils of believing in such people. Another character whose existence is essential to the plot but whose existence isn’t explained.

On the technical front, there was nothing striking. The fact that the film was made over a long period of time was evident with continuity faults. Music won’t stay with you. You won’t remember much of it.

Dwaraka has an interesting plotline and a tiringly erratic screenplay. It is almost engaging. You’ll want to see what happens of this thief who is given such a position of power. But only if you can sit through the two and a half hour of randomness.
