Review: 'Kallathuppakki' shot to fame after a row with the Vijay-starrer 'Thuppakki', which saw both parties at loggerheads over the title and later arrive at a out-of-court settlement. The four-month long court drama brought in a lot of free publicity for the movie, which it could have cashed in on. Sadly, the makers have not shown the seriousness they did while fighting for the film's title. Had they taken some effort to iron out the flaws, which are aplenty, 'Kallathuppakki' could have been a fairly entertaining movie.
It takes its own sweet time getting into the story, but this comes at the expense of the audience. The tit for tat between the students and the teacher goes on for a long time, almost till the end of the movie. The sloppy editing and uneven pacing only makes things worse. In the end, 'Kallathuppakki' misfires.
