Malashri is back in action, this time as a good samaritan who helps women in distress and solves problems between couples.
Director S S Mahender, known for making movies which tug at your heartstrings, has penned a script that aptly suits Malashri. However, the story is not new to Kannada audiences. .
Mahakali focuses on Devi (Malashri) who forms an outfit called Karnataka Mahila Rakshana Vedike to fight against harassment of women. Her major challenge is to bring together Preetham (Delip Raj), son of home minister Nagappa (Mico Nagaraj), and his girlfriend Asha (Pooja), who is pregnant. Naturally, the minister's family is against the union. They do what it takes to stop Devi from achieving her goal, even if it involves illegal means. She's wrongly accused of murdering a company owner. A lawyer and a cop, who are hand in glove with the minister, manage to put her behind the bars. After her release, the trio hatches a sinister plan to kill her.
Action queen Malashri has donned the role of activist, and she's done ample justice to it. Mico Nagaraj is treat to watch as a minister. Dilip Prakash and Pooja don't have enough screen space.
