Munna is a motocross racer, who falls for his high school classmate Varalakshmi. His arch rival Charan happens to be her brother. Does he manage to beat him and also win Varalakshmi's love?
This film had quite some expectations since it saw the debut of another industry kid, Prithvi. The romcom was helmed by Preetham Gubbi, who is known for this genre. This film pays allusions to many classic Indian romantic films, reminding the viewer of scenes ans sequences in them. Eventually, the film ends up falling just short of the very good tag, as the first half seems a tad too long.
The establishment of romance between Prithvi and Malavika is where the story goes slightly amiss, as the scenes lack the intensity that one expects from it. But, the film picks up momentum in the second half, especially when Prakash Raj makes his entry, leading to a climax that salvages the film that meanders away for a bit.
Prithvi makes a promising debut, showing off his dance and action skills. Malavika is a pretty addition to the new crop of heroines, reminding the viewers of Samantha at times. Prakash Raj is at his vintage best. One also needs to give a special mention to Preetha, whose cinematography in the motocross scenes is an added highlight.
If you like your films to be reminiscent of the good old romantic tales, this one is worth a dekko, though be prepared to invest a little patience and go without many expectations.
