Holding a mirror to human conscience through fantasy tales is a technique that filmmakers have used before. While the initial portions are convincing, latter half can be termed slightly over the top.

Story: Damanan and Madanan are thieves, who have been trying to pull off a good burglary. The break-in they plan goes downhill and the duo jump into a river in an attempt to escape. They lose consciousness while swimming, but both see a dream in which they are washed ashore in a land sans commercialization.

Review: Njan Ninnodu Koodeyundu directed by Priyanandanan reminds one of Rajiv Anchal's much-famed Oscar entry Guru , James Cameron's Avatar and similar films, in which the protagonists are transported to fantasy worlds. They understand our contemporary issues and solutions for it, but folks back home consider their views either too Utopian or crazy. Priyanandanan too has tried a similar tactic to convey his message.

The film gets off to a neat start through a clear conversation which introduces the lead characters - the thieves Damanan and Madanan. While Damanan is proud of his 'profession,' Madanan has his doubts, which the former always tries to dispel. When one of their burglary attempts go wrong, they are forced to jump into a river to escape an angry mob and they lose consciousness. Both of them end up watching a dream, in which they get transported to a surreal land devoid of commercialization and vices like alcoholism and smoking. While Madanan is impressed with the new place, Damanan find himself longing to be back in the real, rough world. He also introduces worldly ways among the innocent folks, leading them astray.

Holding a mirror to human conscience through fantasy tales is a technique that filmmakers have used before. The initial portions of Njan Ninnodu Koodeyundu are convincing, but the film is hampered by the latter half that can be termed slightly over the top. It keeps one guessing as to what the director's final message is. Replete with performances that also feel functional at many junctures, the movie is a tad too contrived for the average audience.
