Times of India
A group of college students invent a chemical potion that turns them invisible. They use their invention to steal Rs 10,000 crore from Karishma (Kanishka). It is then up to CB-CID officer Shankar Lal (Vivek) to trace the money from the students, who are on the run.
In 'Hollow Man' (2000), Sebastian Caine (Kevin Bacon) turns stalker and killer after he becomes a subject for an experiment to turn people invisible. But the students in '
' set their criminal sights lower and use their accidental invention only to climb up the social ladder.
After Ashwin (Dhruv) and Bhoomika (Madalasa) fall in love, the latter finds out that her boyfriend is from a poor family. This, she knows, will come in the way of their relationship as her father will not accept such a match. So she, along with Ashwin and friends, use the potion to steal from Karishma, who has a lot of illegal wealth. The movie turns into less a suspense drama and more a comedy of errors after Shankar Lal and his team get to the chase.
The movie tries to cash in on the idiocy of the CB-CID officers, which at most times is far fetched. But it will definitely get the frontbenchers roaring in laughter thanks to the antics of Vivek and his men. As the students try to make their way to Goa, C H Rajkumar's camera captures beautiful landscapes such as the Abbi Falls in Madikeri and other places along the Western Ghats, a treat to watch. Though rich in name 'Pathayeram Kodi' is a poor watch because of the lack of consistency in the plot and screenplay.
