Mithra is a blind man, whose happy-go-lucky demeanour and philosophies ensure that he is everyone's favourite. When a timid, insecure and rich blind girl, Anu, enters his life, he experiences a whole new feeling. What happens next?

PC Shekar's Raaga is a visual treat. Each frame looks to be painstakingly put together to recreate the ambience of an old era and the lighting ensures every shot is worthy of being a postcard. In this fairy tale world one gets to uncover a love story. The treatment and styling is akin to Bollywood films like Barfi! and Black, which is laudable. And the characterization reminds one of Charlie Chaplin's memorable film Citylights. When the film has all of this going for it, the dialogues, that are excessively philosophical and preachy, hinder what could have been a beautiful love story.

The main problem lies in the fact that the lead actor is made to seem excessively likable right from the first frame and this effort is seen and seems a little unnatural at times. The director has a beautiful bittersweet story to narrate, and one wishes at times that he had just kept it simple and natural during the narrative. The forced dialogues and mannerisms take away the tenderness that one needs to feel for a love story like this at times.

One must laud Mithra for his effort, though one wishes that he had stuck to the basics for some scenes make you feel things go a bit too melodramatic. The other highlight apart from Mithra is Vaidhy's cinematography, which is a treat for the eyes. He is complemented by the good art direction and costumes. Should you watch this film? Yes, it is a good attempt that can be acknowledged if you like bittersweet love stories of underdogs.
