After watching Superstar, it is safe to say that Gujarati movies are now entering a phase where more and more filmmakers are ready to make bolder decisions when it comes to filmmaking. Handling a thriller is not easy, but director Bhavin Wadia has managed to do it with Superstar, a film that not only has the element of thrill, but also romance, drama and suspense.
The movie is about a reigning Bollywood superstar, who leads a happy, dream life with a huge fan following, a beautiful wife he loves and a son they both adore. But their lives take a complete about turn when they come face to face with a reality that no one wants to face. In a story that demands grip, pace and maintaining suspense, the movie ticks all the right boxes.
Not only does it manage to hold the curiosity throughout, it also manages to create edge of the seat moments. And the story and direction are supported by a tight screenplay and well-rounded performances by the leading pair of Dhruvin Shah and Rashami Desai. While Rashami, an established actor on the small screen, expectedly does justice to her character, it’s debutante Dhruvin who steals the show as a superstar.
The movie is well supported with wonderful music by Parth Thakkar, with songs laden with voices like Armaan Malik and Shekhar Ravjiani. Overall, Superstar is a well-made thriller that will keep you interested till the last moment.
