For a film to pull viewers, it either needs a new (and good) story, good promotion activities or a big star attached to it. Films that combine all three too go the distance but Taleem has none of these.

Combining the story of the acclaimed Pinjra with that of the recently released Sultan, Taleem gives its viewers nothing new to look forward to. Sultan hit the jackpot, but it had Salman Khan. Riding on a newcomer's bulging muscles is not as easy as putting the film's weight on Salman's shirtless beauty.

The story is the most common one that we've heard of. The village underdog beats expectations to emerge a winner but soon goes on a downward spiral only to redeem himself towards the end of the film. The underdog here is our protagonist Bhau (Shwetchandra) who belongs to an ostracised family. He is treated very badly and beaten up for small things by villagers but the local wrestling trainer (Joshilkar) gives the lad a new lease of life. He asks for Bhau to come for taleem at the akhada daily. Gradually, the ustaad shapes Bhau up and the latter becomes the toast of the tow. Soon Bhau falls in love with a lavani dancer. Unfortunately, the ustaad and other villagers come to know of this. To make matters worse, Bhau loses an important wrestling challenge and his popularity goes down the drain. But as all such stories end, the phoenix rises from the ashes again.

After the Pinjra-Sultan mix, one might expect good acting or s different way of presenting the same old story. There's neither. Taleem is a film about brawny attitude and kushti but it tries to put in a social angle too. That's where it fails.

Plus, the moustache-twirling and ego tussles get boring after a while. Watch this one only if you hit the akhada daily.
