Story : Sreebala IPS is the officer-in-charge probing the missing case of renowned actress Uma. The smart cop and her colleague Xylex pinpoint a potential criminal in no time, but hardly do they know that the case will also traverse their lives, explaining some surprising turn of events.

Review : Like in the Hindi movie A Wednesday , Vettah starts rolling through the words of an investigation officer, who terms it a life-changing experience. A meticulous cop, an articulate and manipulating antagonist, a few smart police officers, and a not-familiar-to-many-plot, Rajesh Pillai's action thriller has all the ingredients right.

Sreebala IPS is the officer-in-charge probing the missing case of renowned actress Uma. The smart cop and her colleague Xylex pinpoint a potential criminal in no time, but hardly do they know that the case will also traverse their lives, explaining some surprising turn of events.

The first half packs a handful of parallel instances and links, triggering curiosity and leaving the viewers flummoxed. The suspect of the story is a complex personality and his hidden agenda sprouts questions, though it is not markedly gripping. The second half picks up pace, but at times the story also seems to simmer far too long before getting to the boil. The case intrigues, with many distractions occupying the minds of its investigators, but they are not shown smartly exploring the mechanics. Manju Warrier, Kunchacko Boban and Indrajith are all astute and canny, as their characters need to be.

Certain missteps in the script also pose hurdles in the way of enjoying Vettah as a full on, impactful thriller. How certain characters are finished off, the shrewdness of the convict and the dexterity with which he manipulates officers like a seasoned hand, none of that has a solid backing in the script.

The intriguing title of the film also has nothing to do with the story, except that the turn of events is interpreted thus by one of the characters. Vettah can be a moderately engaging one-time watch, if you walk in with reasonable expectations.
