Actor Kamal Haasan has found a new controversy surround him, this time due to his remarks. Apprently, his words have not gone down well with fringe groups, who have been demanding action against him. Ouch!
The latest trouble
Kamal Haasan, who was speaking with a regional channel, was giving his opinions on Hindu epic Mahabharata when he said, "The country reads about the book in which a woman (Draupadi) was used as a pawn and was gambled away." His views on the book have not gone down well with people. A police complaint regarding the same has also been filed in Chennai!
Not new to this!
However, this is not the first time the actor has been marred by controversies. Be it his films or his views on issues, Kamal Haasan’s views have attracted the wrong crowd.
Backlash surrounding Vishwaroopam
His highly anticipated film, Vishwaroopam was also met with agitation by Muslim groups across the state, who demanded the film be banned. So much so, the actor threatened to move out to a much more ‘secular’ state
Trouble with the medical community
Years ago, the Tamil remake of Hindi hit Munnabhai M.B.B.S was made as Vasoolraja M.B.B.S. However, the film’s title got in troubles with the community of doctors for ‘ridiculing’ them. The President of the state board even filed a petition , citing his objection to the title. The title , loosely translated to Tamil means ‘corrupt doctors’.
Another film, another case?
In 2015 Kamal’s Hassan’ s film Uttama Villain got into a heap of controversies surrounding its songs , which were considered offensive towards Lord Vishnu. More trouble was reported due to financial woes, which ultimately led to all the first day shows getting axed.
Ban against Biryani
Also recently, his views on Jallikattu and Dravidian politics did not go down with a section of people. When the whole Jallikattu issue was debated, Kamal Haasan said, “ If Jallikattu is banned, the Ban Biryani too.” While his fans appreciated his sentiments, his remarks invited a lot of unwanted attention across the country.
