“We are public figures, not public property”: Vidya Balan on being mishandled!
Vidya Balan is an absolute badass and there's no denying that! Recently, actress Vidya Balan suffered a rather unfortunate encounter while she was in Kolkata but instead of keeping mum about it, Vidya decided to tackle it by herself.
When the actress was promoting her latest movie ‘Begum Jaan’ with Mahesh Bhatt and Director Srijit Mukherji, a fan tried to misbehave with her but Vidya decided to serve him back in the best possible way.
Vidya was mishandled
Apparently, a fan asked to click a selfie with her. While Vidya courteously agreed, the fan tried to put his arm around her, making her uncomfortable. Vidya politely asked the man to remove his hand but to no avail. That is when Vidya’s manager stepped in to control the situation and the man let go of the hand.
Fan moment gone wrong?
Things did not end here. The fan tried to do the same thing again that irked Vidya who decided to give the ‘fan’ a piece of her mind. She screamed, “What do you think you're doing?” To which, the gutsy man shamelessly once again asked her, if he could take a selfie. Vidya was extremely annoyed, and shouted, “No you can’t, behave yourself.”
Intrusion of personal space
Talking about the unfortunate incident later, Vidya said, “When a stranger puts an arm around you, be it a man or a woman you get uncomfortable because they are intruding into your personal space. We are public figures, not public property.” We are glad Vidya spoke up. Celebrities are ‘human’ as well!
