Golmaal is perhaps the only film in Bollywood which has had so many sequels and is yet eagerly awaited! While the original film Golmaal (1979) remains a classic favorite, the spin off 'Golmaal' series drew audiences to the theatres with its fun unlimited treatment. Golmaal gang reunites for Golmaal 4
What a birthday gift! Ajay Devgn gave us a glimpse of the fun to come in Golmaal 4 with a first look at the lovely star cast! Ajay posted a picture of the Golmaal 4 crew and wrote, “Birthdays should be mad fun and glorious...a lot like our Golmaal family.”
A cult classic, Golmaal
The original Hrishikesh Mukherji directed Golmaal starred Amol Palekar and Utpal Dutt in lead roles. With music by R.D Burman, the movie was a hit with the audiences as well as critics. There is perhaps, something about this wonderful movie which is still fondly remembered by people. A simple storyline, excellent actors and spot on comedy, Golmaal is a classic film you cannot miss!
Golmaal : Fun Unlimited
The movie might have borrowed the title from the original cult classic but was inspired by a Gujarati Play ‘Aflatoon’. The movie which released in 2008 starred Ajay Devgn, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor, was a surprise hit at the box office.
The comedy went on to have a sequel, Golmaal Returns (2008) which starred Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora. Unlike the first one, Golmaal Returns was a remake of Marathi film ‘Pheka Pheki’. Although it was panned by the critics, the film went on to become a stellar hit at the box office!
The film, which released in 2010 was the third film in the Golmaal series. Apart from the old cast, the movie also welcomed Mithun Chakraborty and Kunal Khemu. The movie which released on the Diwali weekend went on to become the second highest grosser that year. The franchise became well known as a slapstick comedy.
Golmaal Again with newer cast
And now, after long, the fourth franchise will see a newer sequel hitting the screens. Parineeti Chopra will replace Kareena Kapoor Khan and a surprise addition will be Tabu, who returns to comedy after a long gap. The film is slated to release in October.

While the actresses in the franchise have were replaced, actors Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor remained the part of the ensemble cast. In fact, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty became a household name who would go on to deliver more hits in the future like Singham, Bol Bachchan and All the Best.
