Soon it became one of the top most trends on social media platforms. Raees set its first benchmark by hitting a whooping 20 million views on Youtube in merely 24 hours of its release.
Not just that, the trailer went ahead to become Bollywood's most liked trailer with the maximum number of likes for a Hindi Film on garnering nearly half a million likes (445k likes).
After its power packed trailer, Raees then went on to treat the audience with the much awaited track 'Laila Main Laila' featuring Sunny Leone which again became an instant rage online, shattering music records on Youtube with 14 million views in just 1 day. The song continues to be a chartbuster and has further crossed yet another milestone of surpassing 50 million views in less than 2 weeks.
The massive buzz around Raees shot up to a whole new level thanks to its impending clash with Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam starrer Kaabil which is also releasing on the same day on January 25 during the Republic week. The makers have planned a worldwide release the movie straight from morning shows while Kaabil will release with preview shows starting from evening 6 pm. It remains to be seen if Raees will be able to gain the upper hand over Kaabil at the box office.
Set in early 1980's and 90's Gujarat, Raees is a story of a ruthless don Raees Alam played by Shah Rukh Khan who's boot-legging business is thwarted by a tough policeman Majumdar played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the movie also marks the Bollywood debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan who plays the role of Shah Rukh Khan's onscreen wife.
