Johnny Lever: People didn’t even know that Asraniji and I were a part of a comedy show

Synopsis

Johnny Lever speaks out about his debut TV show 'Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double' going off air

The TV show 'Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double', which features veteran Bollywood comedians like Johnny Lever and Asrani, will go off air by the end of this month, nine months after it was launched.
Johnny Lever is a tad disappointed that the show is suddenly going off air. He tells BT, “Every show takes a little time to connect with viewers. In the case of 'Partners'..., the makers changed the time slot several times and got the viewers confused as to when exactly the show was airing. First it was 9.30 pm, then it was shifted to 10 pm and later to 10.30 pm. We also had the cricket league and FIFA World Cup happening during those time slots and so, we lost out on our viewership during that time."
The actor is also upset with the show not being promoted well. He says, "Usually, there are TV show hoardings on public buses and elsewhere in the city, but somehow, our show wasn’t promoted so well. It never had hoardings of Asraniji and me being a part of it. So, many people did not know that two comedians from Bollywood were a part of the show. But it’s okay, I am sure that’s how the TV industry functions. I had a good experience shooting for it.”
Meanwhile, the rest of the cast are hopeful that there will be a second season in the future. Says Vipul Roy, “I have heard that the makers are planning a second season. I agree with Johnnyji that the time slots got changed so many times that viewers lost track. But it was a great experience working with Asraniji and Johnnyji.” Kiku Sharda adds, “I think the show had a decent run of around nine months and I am happy with my experience.”
