The 14th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) kicked off on August 10 (local time) with a grand inauguration press conference, graced by numerous Bollywood celebrities including Karan Johar, Kartik Aaryan, Mrunal Thakur, and Vijay Varma, among others.

Numerous snapshots from the film festival are currently circulating across social media platforms. In one particular photo, filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Kartik Aaryan can be observed striking a pose together for the camera. Both personalities are elegantly attired in formal suits within the frame.

Another image captures the two stars seated side by side, immersed in the festival's atmosphere.

Acknowledging his remarkable achievements, the 'Dhamaka' actor is slated to receive the esteemed Rising Global Superstar of Indian Cinema award during the gala awards night on August 11.

In a tribute to Kartik, IFFM will also present several screenings of his cinematic works, including 'Satyaprem Ki Katha' and 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', which stood out as major successes in 2022.

Simultaneously, the festival will pay homage to the visionary storyteller Karan Johar, celebrating his unwavering dedication to cinema. A series of events and exclusive screenings dedicated to Johar's remarkable contributions to Indian cinema are planned.

On the film front, Kartik's upcoming appearance is in director Kabir Khan's anticipated film 'Chandu Champion', scheduled for release on June 14, 2024. Kartik recently wrapped up shooting for the London segment of the movie.

Shifting focus to Karan, his latest directorial venture 'Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani', a romantic drama starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi, has garnered an estimated global box office collection of Rs 200 crore.

It's noteworthy that Kartik and Karan encountered a professional disagreement in 2021 during their collaboration on 'Dostana 2'. Kartik was originally cast alongside Janhvi Kapoor in the movie, but was subsequently replaced. Karan Johar's Production House 'Dharma Productions' formally announced Kartik's departure from the project, stating on Instagram, "Due to professional circumstances, which we have chosen to handle discreetly, we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D'Cunha. Stay tuned for the official announcement."
